Anthony Mason’s oldest son revealed on Saturday that the former Knicks forward is in stable condition following multiple surgeries due to a massive heart attack he suffered last week.
“My family and I appreciate everyone’s support this week, and we are grateful for all of the prayers and well-wishes for our father, Anthony Mason,” Anthony Mason Jr., who played at St. John’s, said in a statement. “Our father is now in stable condition and continues to receive expert medical care here in New York as he recovers from his medical procedures. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”
Mason, a Queens product who rose to stardom with the Knicks in the mid-’90s, had emergency surgery last week and reportedly needs a heart transplant.
