Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester City are ready to enter the race for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The 42-goal forward is thought to be a chief target for Liverpool, but Pep Guardiola is ready to let him know that the Etihad is also a potential destination. And City are reported as being in the process of preparing a bid to lure the striker away from BVB.
Aubameyang was set for a move to Paris-Saint Germain, according to various sources. However, the deal has apparently fallen through and the player is now fair game again.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is intent on reuniting with his former player, although Sky are claiming that reports stating such are false.
The German worked with the 28-year-old while in charge at Dortmund and the pair have a great working relationship. The Reds would have to sanction a fee upwards of £60m to bring the player to Anfield, yet it is believed that they would have no qualms in doing so.
City, meanwhile, aren’t prepared to sit easy during the summer, having failed to win silverware during the first term of Guardiola’s reign.
The club wasted little time in making their first signing, agreeing a move with Monaco’s Bernardo Silva, who will officially join their ranks on July 1.
Brazilian keeper Ederson Moraes has also been captured by the Etihad side, with Guardiola looking to avoid the mistakes that cost his side several points last season.
Aubameyang’s renewed availability, though, could be the reason for a real tussle on the transfer front this summer. And it will be interesting to see where he ends up – if he does move at all.
