Cape Town – The look on Kevin Anderson’s face as he booked his place in Sunday’s US Open final was priceless. 

Having lost the first set of his semi-final against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta, Anderson rallied back to take the next three and advance to a Grand Slam final for the first time in his career.

The 31-year-old will now face Rafael Nadal in the tournament final.

But regardless of what happens in that match, Anderson has put South African tennis on the centre of international stage for the first time since Wayne Ferreira. 

With his big serving and improved ground strokes, Anderson is looking better than ever and he will be backing himself to pull off something special against the current world number one. 

Anderson has not beaten Nadal in four attempts, but that will count for nothing when the two lock horns when it matters most.
